My stay at Sampson's Guest House - Review of Sampson's Guesthouse Company Ltd., Accra, Ghana
This is a fairly big guest house with two separate adorable storey buildings on a very large property in Kwashieman. It was not very expensive and it was a nice, quiet place. It's well off the beaten path, which I was pleased with because I wasn't surrounded by tourist hounders and could relax in peace.
The place was kept very clean. The common areas were cleaned often and rooms were cleaned on daily basis, changing sheets, etc.
The room was a nice size, offering a fan, air condition, a small fridge, a balcony, a dining area and a seating area with a satellite flat-screen TV. There is a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and free toiletries.
There is a nice quiet garden off on the side of the property with mango and coconut trees and lush green grass. My husband and I sat in there and talked for hours the first day, not realizing the time was slipping by. It was very relaxing. The employees were very nice. Mr Ankrah and Emmanuel were very accommodating and looked after our needs nicely. They even set a table in the courtyard for my husband and I to have dinner by the moonlight three nights. It was very sweet. I would definitely stay there again, but I would hire a driver and car next time instead of chattering taxis often.
I did like being among native Ghanaians and not secluded in Osu with its overwhelming hustle and bustles.
They also have a massive gas generator for black out nights, but they only keep it on until midnight or so, when they think all the guests are asleep. One night, they kept it on for us until 1:30am because we got in late.
They have a kitchen if you want to cook some of your meals which is well stocked with all the necessary utensils, including a microwave, a blender and a fridge freezer. Also a bar, a shared lounge, and barbecue facilities.
They have a PayPal booking facilities to enable us to easily pay for the first night non-refundable deposit. But they don't state on their website, or when you make your reservation that they have a MTN Money Transfer facility, which is quite handy locally.
Overall, for a Budget hotel, their hospitality was superb and I will give them a rating of 10 out of 10.
